I know all about waiting ...

For this movie!

9 more days until the Force Awakens!

So doing the Finn poster was so fun and I feel like I learned a decent amount from doing it so I felt inclined to do another. Also, my wife is really digging what we have seen of the Rey character so far so I figured a little fan art of her wouldn't go amiss.

Did I mention I love these posters? and Star Wars? I love Star Wars.

And a process bit.

A galaxy far, far away gets a little closer. 11 days!

So I am really loving those five Star Wars character portrait posters they put out to promote the new Star Wars movie - Episode VII the Force Awakens. So much so I decided to do a study from the Finn one. The guy looks awesome. Anyways, hope you like the study I did!

The final version of my Finn poster study! Google the original image to see how I did and, please, tell me what you think.

Sans lightsaber

And process shots ... if you are into that kind of thing.

Well, that is it. Yay Star Wars!

Halloween is coming ...

So here is a little Dracula to celebrate!

He is based of an older drawing I did of Dracula as a design in a stained glass window which you can see here.

Another one of these ...

READY!

SET!!

GO!!!

So I don't believe I have posted these on here before ... but I felt it was past time for a little art dump! and for image number one we have some Star Wars Rebels Fan Art!

Image two is some Zach fan art of a 2013 drawing of his ... I think.  Did this a while ago and I can't quite recall. Awesome design though!

Trying out some ideas for some digital book covers ... here was #1.

Hope you enjoyed the random selection of arts!

Where the heck is that kitchen sink?

Here we have three very different works none of which feature original creations.  kind of shameful for a would-be concept artist.  I should work on that!

Captain Phasma biased on a screenshot from Star Wars Episode VII's trailer.  I am super excited for that movie!

Chris Pratt had a silly competition on Facebook today and my sister-in-law encouraged me to participate.  It was supose to be a composite image banner but I decided to sketch it instead.  I took A LOT of shortcuts on my process here but it went fast and was fun so I am happy.

And last but not least another Zach fan art drawing because I love his work and seeing his genius through my own strokes has become a guilty pleasure of mine.  (Zach I really hope you don't mind!)  I'm think his name is ... Rabbit White, but you'll have to ask Zach.

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Something Old

I did this for a children's book class I took a while back.  We were suppose to draw something with a focus on action ... so Dino/Bird chase scene?

Something New

I decided this was the only way to display my recent Mortal Kombat sketches.  This was really fun and I may want to redo it in the near future for purposes of bettering.

Something Borrowed

This is a character from my friend Ashley's story and he is A LOT OF FUN TO DRAW.  He is the Magpie King and he may want to steal your eyes / soul / stuffs.

Something Blue

UNDER WATERED!

There is a truth between these two ideas ...

This drawing was super fun to do and I think the reason why lay between the following two possible causes.

1. I have spent WAY too much of my art time on figure studies lately (not that you can do too much figure practice but that it can snuff out any time for anything else in large quantity)

2. Zach Heckert has some of the most extreme characters I've ever seen and trying to recreate them is a daunting but rewarding process I have come to greatly enjoy.

Anyways, I wanted to do another ZH fan art image to show I've improved since I made those others I have recently posted.  Enjoy!  And here is the glorious source.

The Mustached Truth

"Any dog under fifty pounds are cats and cats are pointless."

My friend Zach Heckert has a blog, E.I.E.I.O.

... and on this blog he has some art E.I.E.I.O.

And here is some old fan art I did of some even older original art he did.  These, as my other fan arts of his arts, are based on his most ancient of posts.  Thus if you want to find the source material you'll have to hunt for it - but I promise the hunt will be enjoyable!

As I side note ... I feel creepy there are so many of these ... but they were made over a span of multiple months!

So long ago ...

I have done a horrible job updating this blog this year.  Or, more accurately, I have not updated this blog this year.  I was tempted to image dump a large nasty mess of pictures on here in one big go but, luckily for you, I thought better of it.  Instead, here is a stain glass looking picture of the nefarious Dracula.

Enjoy!

I'm not sure what _____.

I am finding I am having trouble balancing having art on Instagram, here, and facebook ... its hard, I loose track of at least one all the time and practically let it die.  If I can't learn to be better at balancing three diffrent cared about things I better make sure to never have more than two kids.  I need to find some sort of progression grove where each thing has its proper place.  After I figure that out I need to start twittering.  Then youtubeing. Then something else which I am sure we be invented before I get that far.

Before all that happens, here is a thing for your eyes to see.

SPACE PEOPLES.

Half Life

In the spirit of Halloween .. and awesomeness .. I give you some head-crab zombie decapitation.

I can't believe how long it's been ...

... Months at least since my last baked potato.

Also, it has been a while since I posted here, I guess.

Here is my newest finished something ... in sadly low res ... oops. I'll have to fix that later.

Mario! ... man, I miss Bob Hoskins.

Luigi! My personal favorite Marioite.

Princess Peach! Looking kinda gold-diggery ... an odd thing for a princess.

Princess Daisy! Does she really have a third eye on the back of here head or was my old room mate just joshin' me?

Toad! So ugly he's cute! ... right?

Waluigi! Ever rocking the bell bottoms.

Wario! In a possible ninja pose, inexplicably.

Yoshi! A unisex dino with a long tongue that has a thing for a thing named "Birdo". Odd.

The last of the single Shel-ites

Here are the last three Shel Silverstein monsters that stand alone. There are still three more images to come to finish my collection honoring his collection but they will be large groups and will stand out from all that has come before.

The Wild Cherote!

I stayed pretty close to the source image with this one, just thickened the legs and exaggerated the face colors.

The Friendly Old Sleepy-Eyed Skurk!

He is in dire need of chapstick.

The Squishy Squashy Staggitall!

The most ferocious monster of them all!

Now Mario wont be bro-less.

And this finishes the Phase One Avengers! And lets not forget my random inclusion of Dr. No!
