I know all about waiting ...

For this movie!

9 more days until the Force Awakens!

So doing the Finn poster was so fun and I feel like I learned a decent amount from doing it so I felt inclined to do another. Also, my wife is really digging what we have seen of the Rey character so far so I figured a little fan art of her wouldn't go amiss.

Did I mention I love these posters? and Star Wars? I love Star Wars.

And a process bit.

A galaxy far, far away gets a little closer. 11 days!

So I am really loving those five Star Wars character portrait posters they put out to promote the new Star Wars movie - Episode VII the Force Awakens. So much so I decided to do a study from the Finn one. The guy looks awesome. Anyways, hope you like the study I did!

The final version of my Finn poster study! Google the original image to see how I did and, please, tell me what you think.

And process shots ... if you are into that kind of thing.

Well, that is it. Yay Star Wars!

Where the heck is that kitchen sink?

Here we have three very different works none of which feature original creations.  kind of shameful for a would-be concept artist.  I should work on that!

Captain Phasma biased on a screenshot from Star Wars Episode VII's trailer.  I am super excited for that movie!

Chris Pratt had a silly competition on Facebook today and my sister-in-law encouraged me to participate.  It was supose to be a composite image banner but I decided to sketch it instead.  I took A LOT of shortcuts on my process here but it went fast and was fun so I am happy.

And last but not least another Zach fan art drawing because I love his work and seeing his genius through my own strokes has become a guilty pleasure of mine.  (Zach I really hope you don't mind!)  I'm think his name is ... Rabbit White, but you'll have to ask Zach.

Guardians of the Galaxy - 2 of 5 and more!

Here are some more of my Digital Sketchbook pages where I figured out the line work for some vector images! I had a lot of fun doing Drax, Hawkeye, the Hulk, and Mario!
Drax was intrasting to do because in the new Guardians of the Galaxy film his red markings are strange and complex and would be too time-intensive and detailed to properly render on a cartoon of this caliber, thus I had to find a level of simplification I liked for the set.

Looking at this a couple hours later I can see I accidentally deformed the Black Widows legs ... oops.

I just love this page. <3

Guardians of the Galaxy - 3 of 5

Here are a couple of my Digital Sketchbook pages where I figured out the line art for my vector Guardians of the Galaxy images that I am currently about halfway through!

Peter Quill (a.k.a. Star Lord) and Rocket Raccoon

I AM GROOT!

Life is full of variety, and so is this post

So much time, so little artwork

This guy's name is Hector Krom and this is a tiny part of a side project I have been wanting to do for a while and have finally started (kind of). He is a femmy beefcake mercenary ... in space!

I checked out a book from the library filled with animal photos and sketches with the intent to draw them ... instead, that sketchbook page happened. Oops.

Those two are half-done Comic Con pieces (the first is just a cropped selection) Brandon Sanderson's Vin and J.R. Tolken's Sauron, respectively. Both still need a lot of work ... work that I plan to do! eventually ...

The Saverly Slurm!
Of the original book art, this one is alway the most striking to me

 The Tiny-Toed Flustering Phant!
Where/Why/What toes?

The Soft-Shelled Phizzint!
The Anti-hedge hog

'Invaders from Mars' and monsters

This was yesterday's Sketch Dailies topic and I thought it would be a fun opportunity to try something a little different.

The Glub-Toothed Sline!
I upped the green on him and made the brown kinda peely.

The Skittering Skeep!
There actually isn't a picture of this little mustache eater in the book, so he is all made up.

The Gheli
This guy is one of my favorites in Shel Silverstein's book - he just looks so happy! I decided to interpret a couple of the lines in the original drawing to mean his legs were transparent!

Randomness randomized = s n o r m e n a d s

This is a drawing of the main character in a comic I am thinking about making named Griz ... you'll see him a bit more a bit later too.

This is a side character for the same thing ... hes a quirky space prospector!

Here is a picture of Griz I was working on when my computer crashed ... I only saved this much by taking a screen shot durring the error message. Looking at it after the fact ... he is way too cluttered for what I want.

A digital sketch page ... faces mostly (hopefully obviously). The rights were for reference for my Lego Comic Con drawing ... the Uri guy feastures in a short story I am working through writing right now. Currently I just started the third draft.

More Griz! just playing with some ideas.

Face Practice - Vin

So .. for my Mistborn Comic Con painting I am doing Vin, as seen a few days ago in my thumbnails. But I realize I am at a disadvantage as I dont draw females as often as I should, let alone a specific character. So I picked a few facial features I thought went well with the subject and this this sketch page. Some are better and some are definitely worse.
