I know all about waiting ...

For this movie!

9 more days until the Force Awakens!

So doing the Finn poster was so fun and I feel like I learned a decent amount from doing it so I felt inclined to do another. Also, my wife is really digging what we have seen of the Rey character so far so I figured a little fan art of her wouldn't go amiss.

Did I mention I love these posters? and Star Wars? I love Star Wars.

And a process bit.

A galaxy far, far away gets a little closer. 11 days!

So I am really loving those five Star Wars character portrait posters they put out to promote the new Star Wars movie - Episode VII the Force Awakens. So much so I decided to do a study from the Finn one. The guy looks awesome. Anyways, hope you like the study I did!

The final version of my Finn poster study! Google the original image to see how I did and, please, tell me what you think.

Sans lightsaber

And process shots ... if you are into that kind of thing.

Well, that is it. Yay Star Wars!

Where the heck is that kitchen sink?

Here we have three very different works none of which feature original creations.  kind of shameful for a would-be concept artist.  I should work on that!

Captain Phasma biased on a screenshot from Star Wars Episode VII's trailer.  I am super excited for that movie!

Chris Pratt had a silly competition on Facebook today and my sister-in-law encouraged me to participate.  It was supose to be a composite image banner but I decided to sketch it instead.  I took A LOT of shortcuts on my process here but it went fast and was fun so I am happy.

And last but not least another Zach fan art drawing because I love his work and seeing his genius through my own strokes has become a guilty pleasure of mine.  (Zach I really hope you don't mind!)  I'm think his name is ... Rabbit White, but you'll have to ask Zach.

The last of the single Shel-ites

Here are the last three Shel Silverstein monsters that stand alone. There are still three more images to come to finish my collection honoring his collection but they will be large groups and will stand out from all that has come before.

The Wild Cherote!
I stayed pretty close to the source image with this one, just thickened the legs and exaggerated the face colors.

The Friendly Old Sleepy-Eyed Skurk!
He is in dire need of chapstick.

The Squishy Squashy Staggitall!
The most ferocious monster of them all!

Now Mario wont be bro-less.

And this finishes the Phase One Avengers! And lets not forget my random inclusion of Dr. No!

Guardians of the Galaxy - 3 of 5

Here are a couple of my Digital Sketchbook pages where I figured out the line art for my vector Guardians of the Galaxy images that I am currently about halfway through!

Peter Quill (a.k.a. Star Lord) and Rocket Raccoon

I AM GROOT!

Three and Three

The first three - three of my Digital Sketchbook pages.

Everybody's favorite flux-capacitor inventing time traveler!
I mostly did this page as a contrast to my Ron Swanson pages as Christopher Lloyd and Nick Offerman have such a difference between their faces and expressions. I found the switch difficult and the likeness above to be a little lacking.

Page 3 of Swansons.  The top two turned out rather well I think! The other two ... hey, what's that behind you?!?

nothing? oh, well. Where was I? ah, Princess Leia!

I decided late last night I wanted to do something for yesterday's Sketch Dailies ( #PrincessLeia ) and this was all I had time / awake-ness / willingness to do. I like the top right face ... I want to do something more with it but have no idea what.

Next up the Shel Silverstein monsters! I am nearing the end of these ...

The Zumbies!
This is another one with an appearance I almost completely made up .. I like it.

The Gumplegutch!
Meh ...

The Flying Festoon!
... and the award for being my least favorite drawing in the collection goes to ...

Lego Movie Unlegoed +

This is cropped in a bit but it is pretty much done. I made this Unlegoed pic for Comic Con and I am a big fan of the Lego Movie ... and legos in general. I especially like how Emmet turned out.

The Galloping Griss!
Definitely one of Shel Silverstien's more fun little monters

The Muffer!
Had to work really hard to make him look like the original ... but I think I captured the likeness okay. (read as joke)

The Bloath!
and its white grass

Life is full of variety, and so is this post

So much time, so little artwork

This guy's name is Hector Krom and this is a tiny part of a side project I have been wanting to do for a while and have finally started (kind of). He is a femmy beefcake mercenary ... in space!

I checked out a book from the library filled with animal photos and sketches with the intent to draw them ... instead, that sketchbook page happened. Oops.

Those two are half-done Comic Con pieces (the first is just a cropped selection) Brandon Sanderson's Vin and J.R. Tolken's Sauron, respectively. Both still need a lot of work ... work that I plan to do! eventually ...

The Saverly Slurm!
Of the original book art, this one is alway the most striking to me

 The Tiny-Toed Flustering Phant!
Where/Why/What toes?

The Soft-Shelled Phizzint!
The Anti-hedge hog

'Invaders from Mars' and monsters

This was yesterday's Sketch Dailies topic and I thought it would be a fun opportunity to try something a little different.

The Glub-Toothed Sline!
I upped the green on him and made the brown kinda peely.

The Skittering Skeep!
There actually isn't a picture of this little mustache eater in the book, so he is all made up.

The Gheli
This guy is one of my favorites in Shel Silverstein's book - he just looks so happy! I decided to interpret a couple of the lines in the original drawing to mean his legs were transparent!

Its been too long ...

... but that is because I haven't been Blogging, not because I haven't been drawing. Out of the two possibilities that is the better one.

I am pretty sad right now because a Comic Con painting I have been working on save crashed a few days ago and then today my reattempt digitally vanished ... deletion without representation ... or something involving words.

Anyways, here is an art. It was Friday's sketch daily that I noticed on Saturday right after a brief conversation about Monty Python.

There is also other stuff.

The Wild Gazite!
He is a fun one. Now complete with t-rex arms!

The Pointy-Peaked Pavarius!
The origional is so cute ... I kinda wish I had captured more of that, but otherwise I like it

The Man-Eating Fullit
In the original only showed the tail

Super Secret Plans #3 - The Unlegoer!

Comic Con piece #3 is going to be a bit o' Lego Movie Fan Art ... but without the Lego! I am thinking it would be funny to see a lot of the characters look a smidgen more like their voice actors and less like a yellow barrel with a smiley face painted on (insert emoticon here), not that their is anything wrong with that. I myself in a lover of legos and likely have more than most adults have reason to.

So sketch lv.1 here shows me playing around with an unlegoed version of the Lego Movie video game poster that is still hugely cartoony.

The continuation of that sketch as shown here at lv.2 has the starts of me playing around with how human I want to push the characters, this of course being Emmett. Next step: reference and sketchbook pages to get the poses right!

Random Oldish Unbloged Pictures - Pen and Marker

Here are a few more slightly dated pen and marker drawings. A lot of them are from when I was a bit better at following Sketch Dailies.

I particularly like the Heffalump

This guy was based of a wall painting in the Grand Canyon
